The beginning of a Thursday off (6-nov-14) @ 11:04am

It's Apple product update day... Ipad was updated yesterday. Iphone was updated half an hour ago, Mac mini being updated as I type this post.
And two loads of laundry is on the go. Sitting around with Molly and Sophie. Leah is at a course then she has an job interview then she has work. She's a busy girl. What do do about dinner... Hmmm.

The beginning of a Thursday off (6-nov-14)

So I have today off, decided to go to the bank and get some laundry change. It doesn't open until 9:30am... So it's 9:00, so I decide to walk around the Safeway next door. Nothing I be needing there so I get a coffee from the starbucks inside the store. Grabbed a grande eggnog latte. Not bad, found a comfy chair to sit on and wait until the bank opens...

RIP Grandma DeCraene

A very special lady in my life passed away around the beginning of October, My Grandma Antoinette DeCraene (nee Van Oost). We didn't really see each other to much over the past say 15 years. Maybe a handful of times at the most. I feel bad for not going to see her more, sorry grandma.

I can remember going to the island (Vancouver Island) almost every year to go visit her, we were there almost every birthday until i moved out of my parents house and went to Alberta.  One time, she was turning 60 (29 years ago) cause we used to go to the restaurant in the Tyee Plaza in Campbell River and watch the Ferry dock from Quadra Island every fifteen minutes or so. I remember this particular time because she realized that she was able to get seniors discount.

Another time, my parents left me and my brother in the care of my Grandma and her Man Doug, we can call him Grandpa Doug, anyway... they came to Ashcroft to look after us for the weekend, we used to walk downtown every day after school collecting bottles along the way to return them at the grocery store for money to help to pay for the days groceries. Also had to make sure to keep the plastic bag the peanut butter sandwich came to school in, as well as the brown bag. why?... to use it tomorrow of course. cause you never wasted anything.

War time grandma, she grew up fairly wealthy from what I'm told. but came to Canada with pretty much nothing, had to make ends meet with her husband, Grandpa Archie. So nothing was wasted. Thats just how things were back then, nothing wrong with that.

Two days ago Leah, Blake (my brother) and myself met up with my aunties Shirley and Diana, and her daughter (my cousin) Nicole, and my parents to laid my Grandma to rest at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens near Nanaimo. She was cremated a while ago and they decided to bury her on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.  It was a quiet service cause she didn't want a funeral or anything.  This is where she is buried, behind that fern there in front of that tree. Grandpa Archie ashes were spread there back in the early 80's so we went over to where he was and had some reflection.

She was a awesome lady whom i will never forget. Thanks for being you. Going to miss you.

2014/10/22 - updated thanksgiving post

Veradero trip, part 3 Monday, September 8th, 2014

Last night... I didn't sleep for shit.

Got 6 mosquito bites at some point, plus it was lame hot at night, getting ready as it's Shannon and Jeff's wedding day today. Plus In a extra turn of evens we are going diving on Friday... Can you say fucks yeah. We are getting intro certified again in Wednesday, then it's dive time on Friday. Playa Coral we are a heading... We went kayaking today for a bit. Wasn't as awesome as I thought, got ready for  Shannon and Jeff's wedding, was at 2:30, on the beach, very nice ceremony. After we left and headed to the pool for some chill time, reception wasn't until 6:00 I think. Not good time times as I don't really care what time it is. Island time... Or Cuban time, which ever you prefer.

Havana... Bitches!

Went to Havana today, what an adventure that was.

We rented 7 1950's era taxi's from someone, Eunice was our guide, I can't remember our drivers name, we were in a old dodge something or other, no idea, was white.

We left the resort around 8:30 I think and travelled to Veradero where we switched taxis. Not to sure why but it happened that way. Continued down the highway we stopped at the highest bridge in Cuba... (150 meters). Looked like the Alexandra Bridge near ) Hope BC.

Was there for about 10 - 15 minutes, took some photos, looked at some tourist things. Leah bought a very cool ring, Back in the cab, en route to La Habana as the Cubans call it, not to sure why we call it Havana... But whatever. drove past some towns along the way...seen some oil refineries, water works, electricity plants, (not to sure what powers the electricity plants)

We arrived in La Habana from a tunnel, such a beautiful city, old building are a plethora.
<insert of image La Habana from car> we went to the <revolution plaza?> and seen the buildings that are used for the Cuban government, (ministry of finance, education, health and defense. As well as the presidential building) insert photos of those buildings.
Cubans seems to be pretty proud of their heritage and the revolution, there's images of Ernesto "Che" Guerva and Fidel Castro everywhere, more of "Che" then of Fidel from what I have seen.

(prolly going to have to read up on the Cuban revolution to understand it a little more. Something about kicking out american officials and gangsters)

We had some time to snap a few pictures and the <revolution square> And we were off to a store that sold Havana Club rum, and cigars, Cigars are very famous all around the world... I don't need to tell you that, if you need more information, click the link.
From there we went for lunch at <insert name of restaurant>, was pretty good food. Had seafood casserole, but was really just some prawns, rock lobster tail and some sort of white fish, possibly <>.
After that some people got driven to a hous where they were able to buy large quantities of cigars while the rest of us went to the market. The market is sort of like the market in Jamaica, people hounding you to buy their items inside their booth. Honestly, the same shit was in every 6 booths.

We got really tired of being hassled an every booth we walked past, which was probably around 160 booth or so. We felt extremely overwhelmed, that we just needed out... We were done. We found some people we were traveling out outside so we say out on the pier with them... <insert pier photos> but we also felt that we needed to go back in and get something. I mean come in, only going to be at the market in La Habana once, might as well suck it up and get something,

We did get a really awesome wooden carving of Cuba, and a fan, and Leah got a baseball and a mini bat, and an authentic Cuban Fedora.

After the market we drove to Old Habana. The roads are closed to vehicles so we got to do a walking tour. So much history there. From what our guide Eunice was telling us, buildings like this one was around when pirates roamed the earth, 1700's ish, back around Christopher Columbus days, seen a church where rumor has it, his remains rested there for some time, Seen the oldest building in Habava, dated back to <insert date and photo>.

After thr walking tour of Old Habana it was time to head back to the resort. We stopped along the way at a restaurant/bar for washroom breaks. Got back Veradero around 8:00pm ish. Thanked our guide and driver and headed to the room to change and drop off our purchases and hit up the buffet for dinner.

2 hours later, lights out.

Next post...

Diving, Cuba style

I would to thank the people from the Barracuda Scuba Diving Centre in Veradero for taking us out to Playa Coral f or some dives. We went on two, 45 minutes dives around coral around Cuba. It's kinda shitty that the coral look like they are suffering... Good job western world pollution antics...
Anyway, we got a DVD with a video and a bunch of pictures... We did two walk out from the shore dives, starting at sea level and going to about 40ft. Seeing coral, jelly fish, assorted coral fish. The second dive we got to swim around coral that made it seem like we were going into mini caverns... So... So just... Boss... Can't even begin to describe how I felt.

I started to get anxiety, I told my instructor, he told me to put my mask on and get under the water and just breath it out... That worked. Something as simple as that, excellent. There is a video on my facebook page, go there to watch it...

Veradero trip, part 2

I don't remember where we left off...

8 beers yadda, yadda... Oh, right I remember now, beach... Went down to the beach with Jeff as Leah and Shannon and some others watched the entertainment show. Was good items, being down at the beach at night, still warm ass caribbean sea... Fucks yeah, I love the caribbean.
Went back to up the entertainment area and Shannon requested to go to the beach, since she's the bride on this voyage... We ended up at the beach.
Left the beach, went to our room, changed, and Went to late night buffet and ate hotdogs and hamburgers. Returned to our room... Good night

Woke up the next day at around 12:30pm, Leah...2:30. We budget for. Wasted day of hangover. Happened In Jamaica, happened in cuba. Oh... Neat fun fact time. We stayed in 1107 in Jamaica, now were in 1307 in Cuba. :) maybe it's a theme.

Laid around the pool for a good chunk of the day, had dinner. Went to lobby bar got more shots from our server. She has been interested in busting out the shots since we gave her a good chunk of change in tips that first day. Or I think it's a good chunk if change anyways,.. we went to room, that was about it.

Part 3 coming right up...

Veradero trip. Part 1

Woke up at Friday, September 5th, 2014 @ 6:00am and did the usual morning routine, ate breakfast, took dogs out for their morning pee... Went to work, yadda, yadda, yadda. After work, after work Leah picked me up...

Happy Birthday to my wonderful and beautiful Wife. I'm very glad you decided to spend your days with me.

... And went to Hollywood nails on Granville street south, and got a peticare. It's important to have clean feet for a vacation some one told me. So why not right...

After that we went home, grabbed a cab and booked her to YVR, ditched our luggage and headed through security. Passed that easily, no problems. Went to palominos and ate applies and drinks. (One litre of wine split between two, and some food) feeling pretty good, right about now. Plane didn't take off until 10:30p, so we chilled out at the terminal for about an hour or so.

Border the plane, waited to take off... Ordered some more wine... Drank it, didn't really want it, but did it anyways, (vacation will do that) tried to hard to Gē some sleep but nada. Maybe an hour total. This kid can't sleep for shit on airplanes. Arrived in Toronto at 6:30am (I think)

It's been 24 hours since I slept last, so that's one hour in the last 24...
Thought we had to get our luggage so went down to the luggage carousel, aparently... Nope. Our luggage was not put on the carousel cause we were continuing to Feadero on the same airline... :(

Had to go through security again, once again.... Easy.

*-- whats with all the iPads in Pearson International? --*

Found a breakfast place where we had to order from a iPad. Ate bacon and eggs, was pretty decent food. Had to wait another 2 hours to board the plane. Boarded at 9:45am.

Plane wasn't going to take off until 10:30am, so we sat there, I had a neck pillow so I put it on dnc closed my eyes... I figured i could at least try and sleep, I left the plane take off and then I was out. Fucking rights...

Woke up an hour later, with a stomach ache and a head ache. Stomach ache cause we'll, why not, I've had the a ll my life...why stop now, and the headache from lack of keep I'm guessing. Stayed awake the whole time,

Arrived in veradero at... No clue.

Through customs, was relatively easy. Took a picture and buzzed through the wooden security door.
Found our bus, and sat there, one of the guys I say with Tannner bought some beers off the bus driver, and swigged one down on the way to the resort.
Checked into the resort, headed to the bar cause our room wasn't ready for another 30 minutes.

Exchanged some money first... Sorry, went to bat, ordered some drinks, tipped the bartenders quite well, next drinks was stiffer. Kept tipping larger amounts. Ended up with good drinks within no time, you walk up to the bar, the bartenders remember you and boom... Good drinks all night, well for the wife anyways, I just stuck with beers. Had myself 8 of them though the course of the night

Part 1 of this post is done, I'm tired and in going to go to sleep...

Part to to follow...

Sad day.

I heard a few days ago that a guy I used to go to high school passed away. Very sad, granted we didn't keep in touch at all over the last fifteen years except for a few "hey, how's it going." Now and then. His name is Juan Cereno. He lived on Gabrolia Island. He will be missed.

2014-08-29

Today was ok, was pretty tired, its been a long haul to this point, working overtime almost every day since the beginning of August. Its been crazy busy at work, and turn back season is upon us. The busy season for rental companies as they ditch the 2014 fleet cars for the 2015 versions of the same cars... yep, but it is what it is.
7 days, 1 hour and 20 minutes until we depart to Cuba for a weeks holidays.  Its been on Leahs vacation go to list for quite some time, so I'm pretty stoked to be able to accompany her on that mission.
Went to Steve Nash Sports Club today, was good to get a run on an treadmill. Its not the same as outdoor running. Feel like a bit of that rat in a cage on a exercise wheel... but what do you do. was on the machine for 35 minutes, burned 391 calories. Time to go get changed... the lockers have upper and lower lockers, i picked a lower locker.  Come into the change room, theres someone changing in front of my locker, cause his is above mine. No problem, So i wait, turning my attention to the baseball highlights... what else do you do whilst you wait for someone to change and move.
Well shit, did you not guess it. buddy takes his sweet time. gets about half way changed, starts watching baseball highlights as well.

waiting... and waiting...

buddy get his pants and shirt on... decides to have a look in the mirror... fuck me right? so I quickly dart in to grab my shit cause I'm headed to the sauna to hook up with Leah for a after work out sauna session. i notice he's coming back to what was i thought was a quick finish and fuck off s i get out of his way, let him finish kind go sitch... nope. not the case... do be do... lets grab a stool and plop our bag on it right in front of my locker door and fold our gym strip. Fucking rights, knowing full on that i want to get changed... cause are people that fucking blind that they don't notice someone waiting.
suppose i could have said something, but i figure my actions spoke for me... have some courtesy...

back to the story... so he plops his shit on a stool, and folds up his strip, then decides it high time to spritz some stinky shit on him... and walk over to the mirror on the other side of the change room to have a look and give himself the ole classic faux hawk look...

thats when i decide to push his shit out of the way cause yes ladies and gentlemen, he left his shit on the stool in front of my locker again.

I quickly change, and pin it to the sauna where the wife has already been in there for probably 10 minutes now, so i get in about 3 minutes of sauna time... thanks douche bag... click on the link to see the definition if you're unsure as to what a douche bag is...

you know, i guess people just aren't as courteous as i think, it give the benefit of the doubt and just assume people aren't assholes... but i guess I'm wrong.  Anyways, showered and left, came home and took my last dose of Dukoral... now I'm writing about my evening on the Mac Mini...

watched the movie called Jobs last night, long one but pretty good. about Apple Computers and Steve Jobs.

adios.

fans... or simply just a wrong click

as you can see, last week, i have had people from Italy, Poland, France, US and Canada looking reading my blog. maybe they accidentally clicked the wrong button, but its sorta cool to see who is viewing my page.

i decided to throw up some all time stats... its interesting to see people from Indonesia, Russia, Poland, etc... checking out my posts.

Soap Box

So, over the past few yeas i have been noticing that i am quite opinionated with certain topics. Spouting off about oil pipelines or education system strikes. (hot topics in British Columbia anyways) I see nothing wrong with having an opinion. Lately i have learned to pick my battles. Does your opinion have merit on what is happening, does your opinion affect someone you know negatively, etc...
sometimes it worth the hassle to speak your mind, but other times... why bother. Its just not worth it, all it does is spreads hate and bullshit.

This post probably makes no sense at all as i can't figure out what to say or how to say it, point is... wait, there is no point.
carry on...

old reviews from GarageBand web site on Evolution Man song released by Catalyst

Evolution Man
Band: Catalyst CA
Genre: Alternative Rock

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reviev
Long arranged composition with some cool and great movements. This introduction seems to be not bad, but needs more improvement with record. Sounds like garage, indeed. Anyway guitars, bass line and vocals are very good. Drums sounds nice, but some elements are just to high/loud in final mix. Melodies are moving well, but this one is more ruthmical song for me. Chrous sounds impressive and catchy. I like these radio fx on vocal line.

Overall, its very good composition, which I really like.
- BlueHand from Dowspuda, Poland on 21Jul2005

Good song, but became repetitive...
I love the sitar-like guitar sound in the intro of the song - the entire intro is strong. Im not sure about putting a bass guitar alone, hoever it seemed to work for this track.

Perhaps be careful not to overplay the song - at times i found there was too much bass drum and bass guitar, which muddied the sound.

I think the song is a little too long at the 7 minute mark. I would consider a radio edit and save the longer version for an album - this song could easily have ended at the 4.30 mark.

Overall a strong effort.

my review......
This intro goes on for days and days....needs to be a little shorter to keep the listeners attention....the vocals are pretty good....the mix is pretty good....but the recording quality is not very good....I like the bass and drums....they're tight....but this song needs a direction, and to get to it alot quicker...

Great feel on the intro. Musicianship is gre..
Vocals and harmonies are well done. Really like the guitar tone that is used to convey the mood on the song. This is the kind of music I would go to a club and listen to and really enjoy. The talent is definitely there with this band. The song is deeper than a lot of its counterparts floating around out there. You could really end the tune where you have the break around 4:55/57 or so. I guess when you do the song live the breakdown there adds a good bit of impact. I think the songwriter(s) has/have talent. The mix is OK. Just needs some level tweaking here and there on the guitar. Bass tone is excellent, the round sound I personally like to listen to. Lead guitar is tasteful with fills, etc. Drums sound just a little loose but they do not hurt the overall feel.

Thomas "Rock Cowboy Cobain" Dolby
sounds maybe like this artist was influenced by curt cobain. The reason for my title was that it does have a new age feel but also a little western like acoustic guitar but some rock like vocals. Gets very heavy and has great hooks, all parts of the song work well together. The production or strings on the acoustic could use just a little work. But overall a rocking tune and an A+.
- KevinE from Findlay, Ohio on 17Jul2005

Good charm and bass in the intro.
Bass: Sounds realy good in the intro but I cant pull it out through out the song. I like that bass run.
Guitar: Has a cool layed back riff
with a twist.
Drums: Steady with some creative beats.

LIKE THE OPENING
RELAXED THAN IT STARTS TO GROOVE LITTLE MUDDY,MAYBE A WRONG PART WAS PLAYED BY A MEMBER DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT YOU WANT TO LOOK INTO THAT ON THE RECORDING BEFORE VOCALS

Tool
Reminds me of Tool and Alice In Chains a bit. Nice effects on the vox.

Bass: nice technical bit in the verse. Hear nothing wrong with it.

Lead Guitar: ok. Cool sound. Solo after 4 minutes is a bit dated and could be a bit faster.

Drums: like the stereo-effect on it.

Break doesn't seem to have much use.

Good job

Song too long for my taste
I would like to hear this song in under 5 minutes. It was just too much to take in one sitting.

Overall, the playing is fine. the mix is good for a demo. Shows off your band well.

Vocals are strong.

Review
The intro was really cool. I like how the guitar ends and the bass comes in for the transition. The bass was pretty solid in it, pretty cool riffs. The drums are also solid. I like the vocals, the vocal harmonies are cool. The melody was good. The lead guitar was really good, the solo sounded perfect. I like the build up at around 4:45, I was diggin that. I liked the tone of the guitar, it wasn't too heavy of a distortion.
- JBloom from Clearwater, Florida on 13Jul2005

Intro...
Hey guys, you asked for comments on Bass, Guitar, and drums.. The intro with the harmonics is cool. The bass and guitar sound a bit out of tune though. When the groove kicks in its great, as the track progresses, it seems as the drummer had kind of hard time getting all those fills out. What I mean is that there is a few too many of them and they are kind of taking away from the groove. I like the giutar riff that starts around 2:17 it is kind of egyptian. Bass player is laying down a great pad. Nice, a two part tune. Rock on dudes.
- natekeezer from Unspecified on 12Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good stuff
Nice bass. This song has a great buildup in the begining. Drums are cool at 2:00. Singer has a very cool voice. I like the the effect working on there. Guitars are actually probably the most outstanding part osf this song. At 3 :00 the guitars have had like six different parts, or at least it seemed that way to me. Nice tune
- tenoversixmusic from Waterford Works, New Jersey on 12Jul2005

not so bad
guitar sounds kinda basic in the intro.bass sounds good .nice recording of the drums.vocals fit well with the music.work on melody a bit,but overall its a pretty good song.

nice sound
well mixed nice sound, but it took a long while for it to really build and curse my short attention span but i got a little bored. good guitars and drums.
- hughwg from Bristol, United Kingdom on 11Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
drums... yuck.
Yikes... I'm a little worried right off the bat with a 7 minute song. It's pretty tough to make a 7 minute song good unless it's "hey jude" by the beatles.

The drumming is absolutely terrible throughout. He's missing his hits constantly and falls off-tempo constantly.

The bass is decent, doesn't blow me away either way.

The vocals are a bit monotone for my taste, but seemed to stay on key throuhgout.

Overall, it's a decent track with a god awful drummer. His fills sounds like a child is playing them.
- jdubs15 from Troy, Michigan on 11Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unpredictability
I wasn't sure where the song was going after the intro, good effect. Volume shifts are kind of weird. The tone and mood of the song is cool. The drums are great and only need to played with more emotion. The mix levels were OK, overall volume was good. I like the rolling Bass line with the scratchy Guitar parts. Metal flair without the metal.
- redirk2 from Rockford, Illinois on 10Jul2005

like the sound
I like the sound and very catchy. I like the long intro. love the bass and lead guitar. The drums are pretty sweet too!
- ohmywow from Baxter, Minnesota on 10Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
nice cluster..
Bass; A calm but fitting melody + a developed sound..Could vary little more I belive..
Lead Guitar; Little old folk music ( bluegrass, Country feel).
Drums; quite boring really..But it holds together...
- somewonder from Sweden on 10Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
too long
a one-minute intro is probably a bit too much. Air-time is almost impossible with such a long intro. Don't like the ride-symbals in the intro too much.

Like the moody atmosphere. Clearly a talented guitarplayer.

Good doubled vocals.

Song could have stopped at 4 minutes. 6.53 is too long except when you come up with an amazing break. The break you guys use isn't very intense. It kinda ruins the climax. Lots of potential.

Reminds me of Creed.
- EDGY101 from Belgium on 4Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moody
The music is rather simplistic and at times even sloppy. Not really bad but noticable. I like the sound put forth with the rhythm guitar. The best part is the vocalist. Very smooth and intriguing. I like this song and am noticing tighter performances as the song goes on. Maybe my ear wasn't in tune. Good song. Interesting breakdown or bridge. Trippy.

Nothing Short Of Amazing
Great opening guitar. I love that! The opening is the hook for me I think, but then it kinda goes to the bass part by itself and kinda throws me off. But then all the instruments kick in and play together and it sounds marvellous. Great mixture of the instruments!

The vocals have this dark moody sound which I love. Mix awesomely for this songs melody and beat. They know when to hit the right notes when needed. They are nothing short of amazing in the chorus. But they seem to remind me of someone, not sure who at this point though. The lyrics are pretty good too, all the right lyrics at the right beats.

Great job on this song! Keep playing and i'll keep listening! Thanks for the great tune guys!
- myhearrtbleeds from Unspecified on 2Jul2005

A bit too long
Nice riff, nice voice (Alice in Chains), overall the song sounds good but I'd use the axe here and there, 6:53 is way too long
- sjerre_t from Aalst, Belgium on 2Jul2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great Tones
The guitar tones sound really good as do the drums, bass, and vocals. The vocals in the verse remind me a little of Beck. I like them very much.

Some constructive critisism: The drums are a bit "jerky." In other words they are lacking feel. There is somewhat of an epic feel to this song (lengthy), but consider maybe doing a 2nd version. In this second version I think you could cut quite a bit out of this song while keeping the purpose of the song together.

Just a thought.
Really good song overall.
- OO@553322~Winksigh from Los Angeles, California on 30Jun2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6:53 is not a good sign...
The best part of this recording is the drum sound. Cymbals a little more up front.

The length is killing the song.

Other than that not really much to keep my attention.

Like a roller coaster that only goes up hill.
- thompale from Baltimore, Maryland on 29Jun2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
yes
i'm liking the dual intros, but i would say they need a little diversity. vocal effects work well. good harmony choices.
- lctt from East Point, Georgia on 28Jun2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
good and bad
Intro is a little long for it to be on a recording. Live is fine to have that long intro, but get to your stuff faster.

You have a good sound, great vocalist for your style. Hard but still melodic.

Sounds like some tuning issues in the clean guitar...

Lead guitar is good, not doing too much to detract form the rest of the song, but not hanging out in the background either.

You might want to end it right after the guitar solo. It sounds like a totally different (and worse) band after the solo. This just drags the song on too long, and could turn listeners off as it gets monotonous after a while.

The talent is definately there, but try to save up a little more cash and get this song re-recorded at a better studio.

The intro bass and guitar are very cool, and the melody fits very well with the music. I like how it gets heavier as the song goes. The guitar riff is awesome. Kind of sounds Creed-rock when the chorus kicks in.

Intro too long
After 55 seconds I was wondering if this was going to be an instrumental.

Sounds like the guitarist has only been playing for a few years.

Nice drumming. Good chops and props to the drummer.

The chorus is much better than the verses. The verses need a little work.

gregs other band
nice mood right from the get-go. slow and steady. then the drums drop out and a build begins. looking forward to hearing the vocalist.
bass is a little muddy, a little hard to hear on my speakers.
vocalist reminds me of greg graffin, nice held-back voice. perhaps a little too held-back.
drums are tight, nicely recorded.

review
the guitar riff is nothing new. the recording sounds like it was done really cheap. the vibe of the song is not bad it is pretty cool and the song builds and that is good. I likey dynamics.

where's the hostility?
i got a little worried when i saw the hefty 6:53 song length. i usually like to listen to a song three times before i start to review it. this song was pretty good though, so i didn't mind the time spent with it.

i liked the bass intro to the song, but could have done without the brief guitar portion before it. the bass, followed by the drums builds the tension for the song much better than the guitar intro does and with a song this long, everything needs to be absolutely essential to the track to keep it. if you were to start this song :24 seconds in and end it at 6:34 everything would work much, much better.

the song builds nicely upon itself, but i feel a little let down by the time the end comes around. at around the 4:45 mark the song has built up enough tension that there should be a cathartic release, either through a crushing breakdown or some gutteral screams. this is an agry song, i wanted to hear some anger in the vocals.

the music on this song is tight although some places (like 2:00 and 3:41) i wanted busier drums. but overall the guitar has a catchy lead riff, a proficient solo and a nice distorted tone. the bass is low and driving throughout the song and it follows the drums well.

GREAT FEEL !!
GREAT VOCALS , GUITARS, DRUMS, AND BASS.
THE SOUND WAS COMPLETE AND THE PRODUCTION AND MIX WAS VERY GOOD !!
ID HAVE TO SAY , I'LL ADD THIS ONE TO MY PLAYLIST .
GREAT STUFF GUYS.
I WANNA HEAR SOME MORE OF YOUR STUFF !!!

Bass and Drums lead the song.
The beginning is a little long, but kept my head nodding. Then I really like the vocal sound when they came in, and melody was perfect.

Slow start
I'm 30 seconds in and staring at that counter that tells me that this song is almost 7 minutes long and I'm dying here. You need to get to the punch a bit quicker on this one if you are going to hold the attention of the listener. I'd try to cut this length down at least 2 minutes if not more.
- GWML from Boston, Massachusetts on 21Jun2005

Warms up
A bit of a slow start - the intro is a little long - but this gets better as it goes along.

I like the guitar sounds, esp the heavy distorted guitar. It's heavy without being fizzy.

The vocal melody over the top is cool.

The drums are a bit muted sounding. The snare could do with a touch more snap, the toms are indistinct, and the kick is too buried.

You could try making a submix out of the drum tracks, compress the bejesus out of it, and blend with the original mix for a more punchy srum sound.

I'm hearing a Metallica influence here.

Good dynamics, cool song
- BullsH1t from Unspecified on 21Jun2005

driving song
the bass is driving and the drums just puts the mood into high gear. the vox sings well with the same melody of the guitar and bass.
- hystera from Chalmette, Louisiana on 21Jun2005

Epic
It's obvious that a lot of thought and hard work went in to this. Why does the clean guitar theme sound so out of tune? Maybe for tension? The drums and bass sound tight together--good players, good rhythm section. Lead gtr has some cool sounds and varied styles, from tough riffs to clean arpeggios. I listened to the whole song (all 7 minutes of it) and I think you could trim some of the fat, especially in sections where it repeats, say 8 times, chop it in half to 4, so it doesn't take so long to get to the next section.
- TortureSermon from Brooklyn, New York on 20Jun2005

Two words
Guitar Tone

Spend some time finding some interesting guitar tones. You all seem to have pretty good chops, but the tone is lacking. The vocals while in key lack conviction. It sounds like the singer is not confident. Perhaps instead of finding one cool riff and repeating it, you could add to it, add some texture, some life.

Not bad overall though
- redeyedfly from West Saint Paul, Minnesota on 20Jun2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to Seattle sounds
This starts with over a minute of mellow understated guitar and bass. The bass works the song - reminding me of The Doors in early exchanges. Then the vocal comes in and the song goes off into a Soundgarden, Pearl Jam pastiche. The song is a little overlong to have any commercial potential - but these guys seem to know what they are doing and are furrowing this field of music with some style.
- jonnyraythrash from High Wycombe, United Kingdom on 20Jun2005

Still going...
The song probably should have picked up vocally around the 25 second mark. The intro. is pretty and catchy yet I feel that it drags bottom a little. I was beginning to wonder if I was hearing an instrumental song instead of an alternative rock song with vocals. It was kind of like a prop plane with limited run way that takes too long to pull back and take off. I do like the transition around the 2:10 mark. Good lead guitar and drums throughout. Nice job on the bass guitar as well. I do have to say that 6:53 is too much time for this song. It could be shortened thus presenting a much "tighter" performance. This band does have alot of potential at any rate.

ALS ice bucket challenge.

So I was nominated by my brother Blake to dump a bucket of ice water on my head for awareness for the disease ALS. But I decided to donate $50.00 instead. See, I don't really understand what dumping a bucket of ice water on your head has to do with finding a cure for ALS. no offense to those who participate in the ice bucket challenge, but it's just not for me.

Random lyric

I wish I could shut it down for a little while,
I guess that's just not the adult style,
Powering through that ever might just be,
The light at the end of the tunnel is very hard to see,

Trying to keep this shit canoe afloat,
Apparently I'm not doing. Well enough job,
It's hard to float when you don't even have a boat,
I really wish you would stop talking to that tucking knob,

You can't rely on anyone but yourself,
Even then life's pretty unreliable

That's all I got, I lost my train of thought...

Monday, 18 August 2014

Hey y'all...

Today is Monday... Three weeks until I'm sitting in white sand beaches,  so I'm told). Life isn't to bad, got a bit of a stomach ache... That isn't to fun, but it's a lifelong battle so I'm pretty much used to it.

Went out with some friends yesterday. Went to Costco... And were done. Just kidding, we went to a place called The Whip Gallery Restaurant.  $8.00 double Caesars... Had 3 of them, and a plate of nachos, sorry, split the nachos... Couple glasses of water later, ended up at the Richmond Summer Might Market. We wanted to find some cheap. Rings. Don't want to take the wedding rings we gave ourselves to cuba, figured we would get some shitty ones in case we lost them, then it wouldn't matter so much, still had the Original ones at home.
No dice, couldn't find one I liked, maybe the universe is saying something, or maybe the shitty selection kept us from getting something, plus the sizes were all too big. Murr.

Off to work I a go... Wee.

Ignorance... (Update)

Buddy moved the van he needed back to its original spot, so he didn't need to use it at all... Pretty sure he didn't mean to inconvince me at all, was just the way it was preceived by me.

Ignorance

I like how some people are so fucking ignorant. Thank you guy from said rental car company. I show up to do the work, I park my work truck in space beside vehicle, cause people like to have their work station beside their work, I do anyway. And this dude tells me, I need that van, cause my van is parked I front of another vehicle. So I move, thinking they are actually going to do something with the van... Nope, parks it right where I was parked and fucks off inside and sits his ass down at his desk.
Nice move, two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Jury duty (draft post from 2014-08-15)

Went home for lunch a few, seen a letter from the BC justice department opened it and boom, got selected for jury duty.

Yesterday I sent a email saying I wanted to be excused cause is couldn't miss work cause I monetary issues.

I got a email a few days back, They excused me, I think it would be fun to be a juror, just can afford the time off. Then I got a letter from the, a few days back saying the same thing...

A day in the life...

Hump day, Wednesday, middle of the work week. Before today, I had worked 22.5 hours in two days... Yes sir/ma'am. That's a plethora of overtime hours going in the OT bank.
Today, no overtime, didn't really warrant it, was a slower day... Sorta. Well, I think .  We mellowed it out anyway, turned it into a training day dor new guy Michael, or Jun Yang, if you will, JY... Jeeps.

Taught him about tempered door glasses, I really like showing people how to do my job, as long as they actually wanna learn. Nothing like a fucking know it all showing up and telling me how it is... Sorry but other way around... Not the case with this chap, he's ready and willing to learn.
Only 8 hours of work today, tomorrow... Might be another 10 or 11... Have to see. Cha-Ching

Going to cuba at end of the month, have some OT bank coming on next check.. Weeehooo. Plus we splurged and bought ourselves a bed yesterday... Nothing like getting a 1000.00 bed for 790.00 and change. Shit yeah son, you spend 1/3 of your life in it, might as well get a good one. And it's better for the wife's back since the car crash and all... Thanks for not stopping at that red light C@&$%#£¥€?R T@&$S... I mean maybe it was an accident, but we were stopped... You didn't. Oops I suppose right?
Hope you're life hasn't changed anyway at all...
Off on a tangent, sorry about that reader... Squirrel.

Went to run the Iona Jetty today, but it was closed for repairs... So we had to try a new spot. Pacific Spirirt Park, wow, that's a pretty awesome park. Check it out.. Clink the link.
Was way better than the Iona Jetty, trails through the UBC endowment lands. It's nice to run in wilderness without much reminder of a city. I didn't snap any pictures of it al all, sorry readers, but I made a link to metro vancouver web site so you can ckeck it out for yourself.

After that we went to the new BC Liquor store on Granville and 70th. It's new and a decent size. Went home at are a delicious dinner Leah made. She slow cooked a pork loin so we had pulled pork sandwiches. Pretty much end of night.

Sitting at Dollar Thrifty Auto Group doing windshield repairs that were left over from yesterday that someone neglected to do... Love others people work ethic. On a positive note, turned on the radio, sirius satellite radio, 90's on 9 and Cotton Eyed Joe is on by Rednex... That is all

9:04pm, July 7th, 2014

I got nothing... Work tomorrow... Weekend was relaxing, didn't really do to much, talked to my business partner Robin about designs for the web site we are working on... Will go into more details at a later date... It's about opting out...

Reliving glories on the 50 yard line...

Some days I miss getting baked, stoned, high, whatever you call it. Smoking the pot. marijuana if you will. Smoked so much pot in my past, I'm good for a while, like, waking up before work (5:30am) taking three breaths and hitting the pipe. Actually packing the bowl and placing it on my bed side table with a lighter positioned beside so it was very hanky, convient if you will to wake up and smoke it. Going to work. Smoking more at 10:00am, back to work, again at noon, then at 3:30, on bus home. Then hitting the hot knives (a method in which you head up butter, or steak knives on a element or torch and pressing them together when they get red hot with a ball of marijuana) all night long, going to sleep and doing it over again... Repeat that for months on end...
Got off the pot now for almost three years ish... Except for that time we made quinoa muffins with marijuana. A few months back, maybe 6 months actually... Don't really remember, it really doesn't matter.
I haven't been much of a druggie in the last 5 years, I even scored a gram of hashish and took it with me to my buddies stag party and gave it out to whomever wanted it, didn't have a single hoot. Still have a little bit left in case I ever decide to shut off my brain for a few hours.
Come close in the last little while, but I take pride in knowing that I have a streak alive and it's a decent stretch. Oh yeah. The title is a line from the movie Dazed and Confused.

2014-08-10 - morning edition

Well holy shit, it's august 10, three weeks I til we jet of to Cuba for a friend wedding. Fucking rights, going back to the caribbean, love that place., going to Iberostar Veradero.

Sitting on th couch watching NASCAR race at Watkins glen. It's a road track so there's left turns as well as right. Pretty exciting, well I think so anyway. Doing laundry aswell... That's Sunday so far, maybe check in later.

Peace.

Bee sting

Walking to the bus station, minding my own business when all of a sudden... I get stung by a bee... Or something bit me. Feels like a bee sting. Fucking prick...
And even after I change my mind about killing every new that comes into my airspace. Oh well, karma I suppose for those years of dead bees by my hand. It only stung for 4 hours or so. No biggie deal.

2014-08-09 /1:15pm

So far been spending the afternoon at Highgate Medical/Dental. Got a teeth cleaning. Good checkup, no cavities. Now waiting to see the doctor about Dukoral... Going to Cuba, you never know. It's a drug for travellers diarrhea.

2014-08-09 - Saturday morning edition

So far, not bad, woke up without an alarm clock at 6:30am, aparently that's sleeping in when you wake up at 5am for the past few days. No matter, I like vancouver at 6am, it's peaceful and quiet. Played around on the iPad tablet for an hour or so, such an addicting little piece of technology, had it for a for years now, very useful in 2014 life. Could probably live without it if I didn't have the means to have one, but I do, so I do.
Had to go to my place of employment today and print off our tidal fishing licensed, cause the digital copy isn't legit enough yet at the moment. It's what they want, it's the law, I have no problem paying the fees, I fish therefore I pay, I ain't no poacher...
Took a quick detour to Starbucks to get the wife a morning coffee. Now I'm on the couch relaxing with a homemade mocha typing this blog post before I go to the dentist and doctors office.
Not much to complain about today, keep it simple and don't fret about the trivial bullshit that doesn't matter...

Thursday, 7 August 2014

5am...

I opted to go into work at 6am this morning to get a head start on the day, it's the best part of the day cause there isn't anyone around. Peacefulness at 6am. Good times.

Day of awesomeness

Got up at 7am, had a shower, trying to knock the mini hang over I accrued from yesterday's festivities out of my system, it worked. Woke up Leah, we loaded the car and headed down to Kitsilano, picked up Oliver and Keri. Swung by a  donut/coffee shop to get some breakfast and some coffee, then to another coffee shop to get some coffee(it's a democracy, people like different things). An were off, drove through Vancouver, Burnaby, and Port Moody to the village of Belcarra to the belcarra picnic area.
We arrived there around 9:30am, set up our traps, loaded them up with the stinkiest chicken ever and threw them into the ocean. Started hauling in crabs every 15 minutes or so, was pretty good. None of them were legit size so back in the ocean they go. Around 11:00, the people started showing up, now I'm not sure but I think there is some sort of etiquette involved. Like, if someone already has traps down, don't just fucking tie on to the rock and chick your own on top of alrwqdy laid traps tangling lines and fucking with others traps.
Well let me tell you, Jesus Christ that was the case for he rest of the day. Not trying to be racist but one race in particular decided not to heed on the side of caution and just tie off and chuck. And everytime he reeled in, he got caught on your lines and fucked up our traps.
It was suppose to be non- stressful day on the ocean but that was ruined by this asshole and this stupid child who kept doing the same thing.
Oh well right, aparently angered  is you're reaction to someone else being a fuckhead... Serenity now...
About half way through the day we hauled out the barbecue and cooked up some hotdogs. We brought some snacks too and had a mini picnic.

There was a metro vancouver parks board conservation officer on deck for pretty much the whole day, very nice lady. We asked us for our licenses and we started whipping out our phones. She quickly stopped is and told is that we have to have paper copies on us and digital ones weren't really allowed yet cause you needs to sign the license. She let is off though cause we didn't know. And in our defence the internet where you buy the tidal license from doesn't say anything about having to print out and sign it. We participated in a study on which crabs were being caught and with that bait etc...

We left around 3 or 4, I can't remember we packed it in. Ended up getting three legit sized crabs out of the 70 some odd we pulled in. It was getting to be too much, so many lines crossing, not catching anything. Done!
We hopped the car and headed back to Vancouver stopping in Port Moody at 7-11 and loading up on junk. Ended up at The Sushi Bar on burrard and 4th in kitslano. Best sushi in Vancouver... And cheap too.

Interlude... 08/04/2014

Got up at the crack of dawn to get to belcarra [insert photo of map ] to give a go at crab trapping in a different location. Got up, felt a little drunk still, but it quickly wore off and had a head ache for about an hour or so. Phew, got like 7 hours worth of sleep, feeling weren't after the debauchery that was last night... And I lost my fucking sunglasses somewheres inbetween 1181 and Moxies...  Bullshit. Oh well... What can you do, I left my info in case they turn up... But I think they are gone... Favourite pair too...

Another pride year...

So we went down to the pride parade this year, saw some sights.  Some I have been getting used to, first pride I was the sore thumb standing in the corner with his arms crossed. Felt very uncomfortable  at these establishments we went into. I has all sorts of questions. What's with the flamboyant mannerisms etc... But like all things, my inhibitions went out the windows as soon as alcohol entered my blood stream, the drinker I got the more I didn't care.
Last year was a little better, another year growth, did something I shouldn't share on cable TV. Nothing to life altering or anything, just a check mark on life's list.  Nothing really fazed me too much, still though, small town kid hanging around gay people... They are just people, get over it.
Yesterday, all good went to the pride parade, took some photos of floats or anything out of the ordinary... Below are some shots of the parade,

We even seen some political figures there was Elizabeth May,  the head of the Green Party of Canada
and also Justin Trudeau, head of the Federal Liberal Party of Canada,

After the parade we ended up walking to Davie Street, where we met up with a guy we know named Kymo and his friend. We know him through a mutual friend Brandi. He lives in Edmonton, we then went to a bar called 1181 where we proceeded to eat beer, we were going for a bite to eat and ended up there. Its a gay bar, chalked full of dudes priding it up... It's interesting when a dude starts to chat me up...
"So, who are you here with?" Random dude says to me,
"My wife, she's right over there..." I reply.
"Oh..." Dude says with sad look on his face,
"yep, sorry 'bout that" I said

We shared a laugh, well I laughed anyways, and he's gone.
That happened a few times, tried to take a couple photos from inside the bar, none turned out too good, mostly blurry.  And me and the wife at 1181 half-cut around the time of that photo.

After that experience we went to Moxies across the street and ate some dinner, got home around 9pm, and went to bed cause tomorrow we were going on a crabbing adventure to Belcarra with Keri and Oliver

2014-07-30 Angry... Still.

So I went to counseling to deal with my anger... Aparently they taught me how to avoid anger, but not how to deal with people and issues that anger me in past. I suppose I could just wank off on hunks think, but really, it would be a passive way of getting shit off my chest.
I'm learning that telling people that you are pissed off with them, and why you are pissed off seems to get shit off people's chest. But all that causes is bullshit between two people, I mean, is it really worth it versus just letting it go...
Letting it go... Yeah, easier said than done
For that sitch I would just use marijuana to get rid of anything, or bury, that was bugging me, but since I don't smoke pot anymore, it been a rough go for me when it comes to anger and giving a shit. I'm not sure how to get rid of some of my shit. Suppose I need me some more talks with professionals.

Been there plenty of times, but i normally order a burger. We found this place when we first moved to Marpole.  Found out we could get a bento box and a burger and fries for under $15.00.

2014-07-27 8:15pm

Found myself sitting at the walnut grove pub with an old friend last night, as my wife is outside with her bestie chatting it up over double ceasars... Buddy decided to purchase some pull tabs... $20.00 in machine, no winners... Boo.
I decide to match, put $20.00 in machine, boom... $100.00 winner. Tab is paid. Buddy has been playing keno, some numbers we picked, boom... $90.00 winner... Night was paid for by BCLC, thanks government dor allowing shitty little pull tabs as a form of gambling in licensed establishments...
Had a jamaican jerk chicken burger thought id relive some jamaican glory... Was ok. Had three pints of Budweiser... Good beer, I gotta say. Drank 7 cups of water for he rest of the evening, got home around 1:30am, hit the pillow and woke up at 6:30...

2014-07-20

Took a trip to the Richmond Country Farms market today, got mostly local produce. It's a farmers market on the eat side of highway 99 at the steveston highway interchange. They have a whole selection of fruits and vegetables. Like I mentioned above, mostly local grown. They has carts and carts of corm, three for a dollar. Grown on the farm, peppers, cucumbers, zuccini. You name it, they got it. And also some extra goodies too, kettle corn. There's a vast selection of organics aswell, also they have my favourite milk, avalon. ended up filling out crisper, and the rest of the fridge with broccoli, cauliflower, beans, corn (three ears for a buck), kale, peppers (green, red, and purple). and a bunch of other assorted fruits and veggies, for a reasonable price too.

At Richmond Country Farms they also gave farm animals around. below are some example of just what they gave for animals...

2014-07-21 - Crabbing at Ambleside Park, West Vancouver, BC

Last night after work we (Leah, Oliver, and Keri) drove across the lions gate bridge to Ambleside Park in a west Vancouver and chucked out crab traps into the burrard inlet in search of dungesess crab and red rock crab. Hauling out a plethora again, but same as before, more moms and babies... We were once again able to keep one. But at 12.00 a pound, it's a good return, sure were not in the market for selling it, but not having to buy it sure helps.

This is the before shot in the bag on the way home, the after shot... don't have one, we threw him in a boiling pot of hot water and that was the end of the crab. Got a bag of crab meat in the freezer.
Thought a previous crab was of size, so i took him over to the scale and i was a little careless... hims got my finger in his pincher...
Live and learn i suppose, hims was just trying to escape back to his world, as i took him to my world. turns out it was too small anyways so he got chucked back into the inlet.
Once again, we were done late so a stop off for a feast of McDonalds was instore... Happy now... sad later. :(
it was quick and easy and at 11:00 on a school night, its whats fed dinner.

2014-07-19 - Part 1... America.. Fuck Yeah!

Part 1... America.. Fuck Yeah!

So, yesterday, was a good day. Started out going to work to grab some items for the days adventures, grabbed a box of nitrile gloves and a pair or wire snips.
Drove back home, made Leah some coffee so she had a fresh cup waiting for her when she woke up, jumped back in the car, went down to kitsilano to pick up my cousins husband, Oliver. Drove back to home, picked up Leah, drove her to her work In surrey.
Oliver and I continued on our mission,  we drove down to Pacific Border crossing. Where we waited in line for excessive 1.5 hours just to get to the border. Dealt with border guard, you know the one you get who isn't very friends at all, looks straight forward, doesn't look you in the eye, straight faced the whole time, asking you the same 5 questions... I get it, it's your job, but at least do it with a smile... Anyways, out of the border line up, past the kiosk, boom... America... Fuck yeah!
Drive down about a block and a half, picked up couch legs oliver ordered from online. Aparently you can get shit delivered to a warehouse and pick it up there. A way around people not wanting to ship to canada...
Back I'm the car, bought some gas for 4.25 a gallon american. Which after exchange rate comes to 1.25 a litre. Still better than the robbery that is 1.47 in vancouver... (Figure it out government... Once again, no brainer... I buy where it is affordable and canada isn't affordable) so back in th border line up back to canada. 45 minutes this time... Canadian Border Services Agent... Get to the kiosk... No welcome back to canada, no fuck all...

CBSA "how long were you gone?"
 - "about an hour"
CBSA "what did you do?"
 -  "picked up a parcel, bought some gasoline"
CBSA "what was the parcel?"
 Oliver "couch legs"
CBSA "what was the total value?"
 Oliver "30.00"
CBSA "really?"
 - "yup, we really like waiting in line..."

Didn't get a laugh or anything, just a blank look... Lighten up... It's just two Canadians going to America, fuck yeah!... for something to do...

CBSA "what do you both do for work?"
 -"I. An Autoglass installer"
Oliver"I'm a wedding photographer"

Pretty straight forward right...

CBSA" what's in the trunk?"
 - "I don't know... Nothing... Well... Actually a milk crate with a jug of oil, and eliminator from Canadian Tire and and a jug of washer fluid I think"

CBSA starts taking notes... What the fuck? Anyways, we were out of there pretty much after that. Maybe we seemed suspicious because we waiting in line for a total of 2.5 hours for couch legs and gasoline.

2014-07-19 - Part 2... Jericho Beach Pier Crabbing Adventure

Left the border, drove back to Leah's work to pick her up, chilled there for a little bit. Left, drove home, let the dogs out, drove down to Oliver and Keri's place and packed up out shit... Were are going crabbing at Jericho Beach. Never been before but I'm into fly fishing so lets do it. loaded up a bag with some alcohol and supplies we need for our adventure. Leah was working in the area so she came along and Keri shower up a little after 7. all in all we caught maybe 20 crabs... but we had to throw back 98% of them cause of size regulations.  One was questionable, like maybe off my 2mm, so we threw it back, but we were able to keep one. was the right size.
the one in the picture was the one that was questionable in size.  These are the traps we used. we filled them with cheap ass chicken, necks and backs bought from IGA on broadway for $3.00 per pack.
we had four traps going, can have two traps per person with a tidal licence.
Leah had to leave around 7:30pm cause she had a client to tend to, she does home care nursing at the moment, she goes to peoples houses and care aides for the allotted. I felt a tap on my back, turned around and it was long time friends whom i haven't seen in a really long time. Kim Teshima. Random sightings in the city of people you grew up with 4 hours north in a village called Ashcroft. Was good to see her. She was on a run, so she left and we continued to crab for most of the night. There were quite a few people there, lots of tourists taking pictures and shit... people waiting for you to haul up your traps to catch a glimpse of a Dungeness Crab. I guess there isn't really much etiquette when it come to city fishing/crabbing. www set up out traps and threw them in, see. you throw them in... then 15 minutes later, you haul in your traps, have look and throw them back in. so these two folks decide to set up camp right where we are trapping. maybe try to be a little considerate next time. and because of that,
the little boy that was sitting there lost his scissors to the ocean because our trap line caught his scissors and sent them off the pier. Sorry little dude, but maybe don't set up shop where someone else is already established a fishing zone.  On top of that the guy in the chair the guy in the chair reeled in our trap lines a few times ruining or traps that were set... thanks for that. but i guess these things happen.  all in all it was a pretty awesome day. Another fine example that indeed British Columbia does rule in many ways.
Crabbing in your back yard with a initial investment of around $50.00.
Since we didn't have much luck in the size regulation crabs, we found ourselves at a pub after eating burgers... yeah i know, but ya can't keep females or anything smaller than 166mm across their shell. was a good burger, place was called Colony Bar Kitsilano , but the prime rib onion ring burger was delicious.

winter solstice/cusp

So i have been looking at the fact that i am born on the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn and aswell as i looked at the winter solstice dates for december 22, 1978. apparently the dates fluctuate from year to year around december 20, 21, 22nd of the year. and that year it was on the 22nd of December... theres got to be some sort of spiritual significance to that combination...

Reiki (霊気?/ˈrk/) is a spiritual practice[1] developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, which has since been adapted by various teachers of varying traditions. It uses a technique commonly called palm healing or hands-on-healing as a form of alternative medicineand is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional medical bodies.[2]Through the use of this technique, practitioners believe that they are transferring universal energy (i.e., reiki) in the form of qi (Japanese: ki) through the palms, which they believe allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium.[3]

There are two main branches of Reiki, commonly referred to as Traditional Japanese Reiki andWestern Reiki. Though differences can be wide and varied between both branches and traditions, the primary difference is that the Westernised forms use systematised hand-placements rather than relying on an intuitive sense of hand-positions (see below), which is commonly used by Japanese Reiki branches. Both branches commonly have a three-tiered hierarchy of degrees, usually referred to as the First, Second, and Master/Teacher level, all of which are associated with different skills and techniques.

Reiki is based on a ki – a supposed life force which is purely hypothetical.[4] Used as a medical treatment, reiki confers no benefit:[4] the American Cancer Society,[5]Cancer Research UK,[6] and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine[7] have found no clinical or scientific evidence supporting claims that Reiki is effective in the treatment of any illness.
